And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, “Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, “Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.”
“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.”
“He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”
Then said Mary unto the angel, “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?”
And the angel answered and said unto her, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
“And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
And Mary said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.”
And the angel departed from her.

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, “They have no wine.”
Jesus saith unto her,
“Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.”His mother saith unto the servants, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”
And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
Jesus saith unto them,
“Fill the waterpots with water.”And they filled them up to the brim.
And he saith unto them,
“Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast.”And they bare it.
When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, “Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.”
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
***
After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

18. My Yoke Is Easy, and My Burden Is Light
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying,
“As ye go, also preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”
“Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.”
“And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony
autoiV and the Gentiles.”“But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.”
“But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.”
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, ‘Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?’
Jesus answered and said unto them,
“Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”“And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.”
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John,
“What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see?”“A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger
, which shall prepare thy way before thee.’”At that time Jesus answered and said,
“I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.”“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

42. What Therefore God Hath Joined Together, Let Not Man Put Asunder
The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, “Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for
any cause?”And he answered and said unto them,
“Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female? What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”They say unto him, “Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?”
He saith unto them,
“Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away taV gunaikaV umwn: but from the beginning it was not so.”“And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away
thn gunaika autou, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth apolelumenhn doth commit adultery.”Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
But Jesus said,
“Afete ta little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”Then said he unto the disciples,
“It is anendekton but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, ‘What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?’
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
43. Were There Not Ten Cleansed? but Where Are the Nine?
And it
had come to pass in his journey to Jerusalem (when he had departed Galilee), that he dihrceto through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. So
as he now entered into a certain village (between Ephraim and Jericho), there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”And when he saw them, he said unto them,
“Go shew yourselves unto the priests.”And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
And Jesus answering said,
“Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”And he said unto him,
“Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”
44. The Kingdom of God Is within You
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said,
“The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, ‘Lo here!’ or, ‘lo there!’ for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”And he said unto the disciples,
“The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, ‘See here;’ or, ‘see there:’ go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.”
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”
“Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
“Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.”“The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.’”
“And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, ‘God be merciful to me a sinner.’”
“I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
45. Whosoever Shall Not Receive the Kingdom of God As a Little Child Shall in No Wise Enter Therein
And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them,
“Afete little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.“Verily I say unto you, ‘Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.’”
And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
46. With God All Things Are Possible
And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, a certain ruler, and kneeled to him, and asked him, “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”
And he said unto him,
“Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”He saith unto him, “Which?”
Jesus said,
“The commandments thou knowest, ‘Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,’ ‘Defraud not,’ ‘Honour thy father and thy mother:’ and, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.’”The young man saith unto him, “Master, all these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?”
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him,
“One thing thou lackest, yet fails thou one thing: If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell thy ta uparconta, sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said,
“How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”And they that heard it said, “Who then can be saved?”
And he said,
“The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”And the young man went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples,
“How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!”And the disciples were astonished at his words.
But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them,
“Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle dielqein, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”
And Jesus looking upon them saith,
“With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”Then said Jesus unto his disciples,
“Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.”“And again I say unto you, ‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.’”
When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,
“With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”Then answered Peter and said unto him, “Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?”
And Jesus said unto them,
“Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”"And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive
pollaplasiona, and shall inherit everlasting life.""Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life."
“But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.”
“For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.”
“And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.”
“And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; ‘Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you.’ And they went their way.”
“Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.”
“And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, ‘Why stand ye here all the day idle?’”
“They say unto him, ‘Because no man hath hired us.’”
“He saith unto them, ‘Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.’”
“So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, ‘Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.’”
“And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.”
“But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, Saying, ‘These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.’”
“But he answered one of them, and said, ‘Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?’”
“‘Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.’”
“‘Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?’”
“So the last shall be first, and the first last.”
And he said unto them,
“Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.”Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them,
“Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.”And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
